Process Transfer Leads to Volume Production
Ithaca, NY, USA – June 5, 2012 – MicroGen Systems, Inc. announced today that it has chosen X-FAB Semiconductor Foundries to produce the first MEMS based energy harvesters for the company. Headquartered in Erfurt, Germany, X-FAB is a multinational semiconductor and MEMS contract manufacturer.

The process transfer is underway and volume production will begin in the first half of 2013.

MicroGen systems, Inc. is developing and bringing to market a suite of products based on its proprietary piezoelectric vibrational energy harvester (PZEH) technology. These low cost, long lifetime (>20 years) Micro-ElectroMechanical Systems (MEMS) are micro-power sources that extend rechargeable battery lifetime or will eliminate the need for batteries altogether. MicroGen is located and develops products in Ithaca, NY at the Cornell Nanoscale Science and Technology Facility. A spinout of the University of Vermont, MicroGen is led by a strong international management team with industry and start up experience.
