Examples of light shielding layer with black resist

For the Light Shield module (LIGHTSLD) an additional layer of black resist on top of the passivation is applied, which acts as a light shielding layer.

Primitive devices are not defined for the LIGHTSLD module.

Benefits:

  • No parasitic capacitance
  • Low reflection
  • Lower cost

Applications:

  • Coverage for non light sensitive parts of OEIC
  • Light shielding for bare dies as used in chip-on-board assembly
