1st Silicon Wins Certification, Award for Information Security Management System and Environmental ReportingSarawak, Malaysia, April 14, 2005.
1st Silicon (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., Malaysia's premier 200mm wafer foundry, has achieved two significant milestones internationally and within Malaysia. In recognition of the Company's accomplishments in building a world-class fab facility through its recent Information Security Management Systems, 1st Silicon has been awarded certification under the British Standard BS7799-2:2002 (Certificate No. 07598-2005-AI-LDN-UKAS).
The Company completed the BS7799-2:2002 certification process through an intensive security audit conducted by Det Norske Veritas (DNV). DNV's certification services are designated by the United Kingdom Accreditation Services (UKAS) as the qualified auditor for compliance to the BS7799 standard.
This security standard of international accreditation certificate named 1st Silicon as the first semiconductor manufacturing company in Malaysia to have received this award. This comprehensive specification defines the requirements for establishing, implementing, and documenting an effective information security management system.
Nationally, the Company has also been awarded for innovative environmental reporting in the Malaysia Environmental And Social Reporting Awards (MESRA) 2004 presented by Accreditation of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Malaysia.
According to the Judges' report, 1st Silicon had achieved four winning criteria covering easily conceptualized environmental objectives and impact on business and performance, reader friendliness, innovative graphics, as well as minimum usage of jargon.

This is the second consecutive year that 1st Silicon won an ACCA commendation for environmental reporting. The Company is an active member of MESRA for the last 2 years.

The Company offers volume production of digital and mixed-signal CMOS technologies in 0.25µm and 0.18µm processes. 1st Silicon started production of 0.25µm in Q1 2001 and 0.18µm qualification in Q1 2003. 0.15µm will go into production in Q3 2005. 0.13µm flash is currently in final qualification.
